Asset loss reduction
Alabama uses a database known as the Protégé system to manage valuable assets, including all vehicles and weapons, across the state's 67 counties. Shaw made asset loss reduction a top priority of her terms in office. According to the office's main website, since Shaw took office in 2007, losses of state assets were reduced by 61 percent, worth over $217,000. She also oversaw numerous agency property audits resulting in the successful location and recovery of thousands of previously unrecorded assets.
