A San Francisco Payroll Expense Tax was suggested as a possible ballot measures for a special June 2, 2009 election ballot in San Francisco, but this did not ultimately come to pass.[1]
San Francisco Board of Supervisors President David Chiu sponsored putting the measure on the June ballot.
The measure, if it had gone on a ballot and if it had been approved by voters, would have reduced the payroll expense tax rate from 1.5% to 1% for businesses with payroll in excess of $300,000 but less than $400,000.
