A San Marino Term Limits Advisory Vote, Measure C ballot proposition was on the March 3, 2009 ballot in Los Angeles, California for voters in the City of San Marino.

Measure C was approved.[1]

The question voters decided, on an advisory basis, is whether members of the San Marino City Council should be limited to two four-year consecutive terms, such that if a politician wanted to serve additional terms on the city council, he or she would have to take a hiatus of two years in between eight-year stints on the council.

Next step: Now that Measure C has passed, the San Marino City Council is likely to draw up a proposed law along the lines of what voters said they wanted when they voted in favor of Measure C. It would limit city elected officials to two consecutive four-year terms but they could run again after a two-year hiatus. Any such ordinance would be submitted to a city-wide vote before becoming part of the city's governance.

Ballot language

The language on the ballot said:

Shall the terms of members of the City Council be limited to two (2) four (4) year consecutive terms, with a hiatus of two (2) years before being eligible to hold office again as a Member of the City Council? .
