Santa Monica Eviction for Cause, Measure RR (November 2010)

A Santa Monica Renter Protection Charter Amendment was on the November 2, 2010 ballot for voters in the City of Santa Monica in Los Angeles County. It was approved.

Measure RR amends the Santa Monica City Charter so that:

• Landlords will have to give tenants "reasonable time" to correct rental agreement violations, except for non-payment of rent.
• Landlords cannot evict the elderly, disabled and terminally ill tenants for owner-occupancy unless the owner-occupant is also elderly, disabled or terminally ill.
• A landlord must establish good cause to evict any tenant.
