Biography
Wharton earned his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Ohio University. Following college, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He flew the 1985 TWA Hostage rescue and served in Operation Desert Storm. He then retired from the Air Force after 20 years. He has been employed as a pilot for Delta Airlines since 1989.

2012
Wharton ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Ohio's 15th District. He lost to Pat Lang in the March 6, 2012 Democratic Primary.[2]
