Scottsdale Budget Override (2010)
The Scottsdale Budget Override is a ballot measure that may appear on the March 2010 ballot in Scottsdale, Arizona in Maricopa County. Pending the measure's passage in the state budget, The Scottsdale Unified School District will propose a question to voters on whether to approve of a 15 percent budget override.[1]
Rep. Tom Boone, R-Peoria, is sponsoring the override that would also replace the current 5 percent override for K-3 funding, and 10 percent maintenance and operations override.
One of the reasons the bill is being proposed is because of current expense on elections. According to school district member Dave Peterson, a 15 percent override would save money. Currently, Peterson estimates a current expense of $100,000 per election.
