Burrage attended and graduated from Antlers High School (1986) and the University of Oklahoma (1990) where he received a B.B.A. in Accounting. In 1993 he received a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
In addition to serving as senator, Burrage works as an attorney. In the past Burrage served as Legislative Director to United States Senator David Boren. In 2001 he was named Tri-County CASA Attorney of the Year.

Personal
Burrage was born in 1968 in Antlers, Oklahoma. He is married to Carole Burrage. Together they have two sons - Truman, 12, and Carter, 4. They currently reside in Claremore. Burrage is the son of former United States District Judge Michael Burrage and Aletha Burrage, an elementary school prinicipal.
