November 4, 2008 ballot for voters in the City of Selma in Fresno County, California, where it was defeated.
If Measure R had been approved, it would have authorized the city to increase its hotel tax from 6% to 10%.
A simple majority vote was required for approval.

The question on the ballot:
|Measure R: "Shall the City of Selma increase the existing transient occupancy tax for the privilege of occupancy in any room, hotel, inn, tourist home, house, motel or other lodging, for occupancy for a period of less than 30 days from 6% to 10% of the rent charged by the operator of such lodging? "|
