The Service Employees International Union Committee on Political Education, known as SEIU COPE, is the political action arm of the Service Employees International Union, a labor union representing 2.1 million workers in about 100 occupations in the United States and Canada. This PAC is considered liberal and supports mainly Democratic candidates.

SEIU COPE, in affiliation with the SEIU, represents the interests of health care (around 50% of the union's membership), including hospital, home care and nursing home workers, public services (government employees), and property services (including janitors and security officers)..

SEIU is based in Washington, D.C., and is structured into seven internal departments: Communications, Education, Human Rights, International Affairs, Organization, Political, and Research.[1]

2014 elections

According to data filed with the Federal Election Commission on June 20, 2013, SEIU COPE had $12,036,181.73 in cash on hand. Thus far during the 2014 election cycle, the PAC has made $1,047,364.02 in independent expenditures and raised $7,121,644.83.[2][3][4]

According to the Sunlight Foundation, SEIU COPE spent $13,684,286.84 on federal elections in 2012. Of those funds spent in the general election, 77.91% achieved the desired result. The organization supported 8 winning candidates of which 11.26% of funding went to and opposed 24 losing candidates of which 66.65% of funding went to. SEIU COPE spent a grand total of $13,684,188 in the 2012 election. Of that money, $2,177,346.17 was spent for Democrats, $0 was against Democrats, $0 was for Republicans, and $11,506,940.67 was used against Republicans. [7]
