Thompson ran in the 2012 election for Ohio Senate, District 30. He took the place of Laura D. Groux in the general election, after Groux withdrew following the primary election.[1] Thompson was defeated by incumbent Lou Gentile (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]
