Sharon Cissna (b. April 5, 1942) is a former Democratic member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing the 22nd District from 1999 to 2013.

Biography

Cissna's professional experience includes owning PS Publication Services and working as a Home Based Mental Health Counselor with Hope Cottages, mental health therapist and family/individual counselor.

Cissna was also a Lieutenant Colonel/Commander in the Legislative Squadron of the Alaska Wing Civil Air Patrol, and is involved with the American Public Health Association, Academy Health, Anchorage Citizens Coalition and Health & Social Services Committee of the National Conference of State Legislators.[1]

Cissna ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Alaska's at-large District. She defeated Debra Chesnut, Matt Moore, Doug Urquidi and Frank Vondersaar in the Democratic primary on August 28, 2012. She lost to incumbent Don Young (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3][4]

Cissna won re-election to the Alaska House of Representatives, District 22 in 2010. She had no opposition in the primary or the general election.[5][6]

2008

In 2008, Cissna was re-elected to the Alaska House of Representatives District 22. Cissna (D) finished with 3,481 votes while her opponent Mark Fish (R) finished with 2,242 votes.[7] Cissna raised $22,312 for her campaign fund.[8]
