Shere Alam (b. December 12, 1966) was a 2012 Democratic candidate for District 30 of the Missouri House of Representatives.

Alam has worked in education, security, business consulting, and management. He has a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from Bangladesh Agricultural University (1990), an M.B.A. from Bangladesh Islamic University (1992), an M.Ed. from Bangladesh Open University (1994), and an M.A. in Mathematics Education from the University of Missouri at Kansas City (2010). He also earned his certification to teach high school mathematics from the latter institution.[1]

Alam ran in the 2012 election for Missouri House of Representatives, District 30. Alam ran unopposed in the August 7 Democratic primary and was defeated by District 56 incumbent Mike Cierpiot (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]

Personal

Alam, a native of Bangladesh, is the first of four children. He and his wife, Shamima Akther Mimi, have been married since 1995; they have three children.[1]
