Slate mailer
From Ballotpedia
A slate mailer is a publication created by a campaign or for-profit consulting service that is mailed to voters and that contains lists of candidates or ballot measures, along with recommendations and endorsements.[1]
Slate mailers are common in California and Oregon.[2]
California regulations
In 2011, the California Fair Political Practices Commission established some new rules regulating slate mailers in the state.
The new rules require:
- Disclaimers printed on the slate mailers must be written in plain language and in color.[1]
- Slate mailers must disclose paid endorsements that are purchased by someone other than the candidate or ballot measure committee.[1]
