A Sonoma County Vehicle Registration Fee, Measure W ballot question was on the November 2, 2010 ballot for voters in Sonoma County. It was defeated.

Measure W, if it had been approved by voters, would have added $10 to the fees associated with registering a vehicle in the county. A simple majority vote was required to enact the new tax. It was estimated that the new fee, if it had been approved, would have raised about $5 million a year for the county.[1]

The funds would have been divided as follows:

  • 12% for Safe Routes to School[1]
  • 60% for the bus systems operated by Sonoma County, Petaluma, Santa Rosa and Healdsburg, and enhanced services for seniors and employee- or school-sponsored transit passes.[1]
  • 23% to improve, maintain and rehabilitate roads, including repair of potholes.[1]
