The South Dakota Prohibit Dove Hunting Initiative, also known as Initiative 1, was on the November 7, 1972 ballot in South Dakota as an indirect initiated state statute, where it was defeated. The measure would have repealed the classification of the mourning dove as a game bird.[1][2]
