A Spokane Valley City Road Bond Measure was on the November 8, 2011 ballot in the city of Spokane Valley which is in Spokane County.

This measure was defeated

  • YES 4,228 (16.45%)
  • NO 21,477 (83.55%)Defeatedd[1]

This measure sought to issue a bond in the amount of $2.1 million in order to pay for converting the one-way Sprague Avenue and Appleway Boulevard segment of road between Argonne and University Roads in the city. If this had been approved, a levy of around $2.60 per $1,000 of assessed property value would have been implemented to pay for the bond. The money would have gone towards conversion of the street segment as well as traffic signals on the road and sidewalk improvements to the area. Some residents noted that the city should just do the street conversion without voter approval as it hurts businesses in the area. Others noted that the measure may get defeated not because residents want the road to stay as it is but because they do not want to pay for the bond proposed.[2]
