A Spring Grove Fire Protection District tax rate increase vote took place on April 7, 2009 in McHenry County for voters in the Spring Grove Fire Protection District in Illinois.[1]

The measure was approved by a slim margin of 10 votes according to election night results, with 769 votes in support to 759 against.Approveda[2]

Voters were asked to approve a tax rate increase of 9 cents. The referendum would cost the owner of a $300,000 home about $90 more a year.

The district would use the tax increase to:

  • Reduce deficit spending.
  • Maintain 24/7 staffing at current levels.
  • Replace vehicles and equipment.
