At his announcement of his candidacy on the steps of the capitol on August 20, 2013, Cooke touched on some areas in which his campaign would focus.
"I have grown increasingly concerned that Alabama's unemployment rate remains high, Obamacare will wreck the economy of this state, economic development for certain parts of the state has been neglected, immigration issues are unresolved, major educational concerns have gone unaddressed, and the current Lt. Governor's mismanagement of the Senate has been a disgrace," Cooke stated.
Cooke has said he is fiscally and socially conservative and his campaign will center on "economic development, real education reform, illegal immigration, faith and family values, states’ rights, and the fight against Obamacare."
Cooke was born to Kyle and Irene Cooke in 1960 and grew up in Smiton, Alabama. Stan Cooke is married to Linda Cooke and they have two daughters; Heather and Heidi.
