Issues
Campaign themes
According to Novak's campaign site, the following are his key issues:[1]
Economy
- "The key for Massachusetts coming out of the current crisis strong is to create a competitive environment. CNNMoney.com recently had a list of the top ten states to start a business, Massachusetts was not among them. It is Stanley Novak's hope to put our state at the top of the list."
Taxes
- "Taxes are bad, but necessary. Currently, taxes are too high in Massachusetts and nationally. In the CNN list mentioned above what all those states had in common were low taxes. If Massachusetts lower taxes the businesses will come."
Spending
- "Like taxes, (some) spending is necessary, but again things are out of control. We need to focus on the essentials (police, fire, education and infrastructure) and cut the waste."
Jobs
- "The commonwealth needs jobs, private sector jobs. A Congressional Budget Office report found that each public sector job created can destroy as many as seven private sector jobs. It is pretty obvious that we create jobs by keeping government small."
Elections
2010
Novak was defeated by Kevin Begley in the September 14 Republican primary.[2]
