Explanatory statement

Below is the County given statement explaining this measure:

This text is quoted verbatim from the original source. Any inconsistencies are attributed to the original source.

The reason for changing the elected position of Town Clerk/Treasurer to an appointed position by the Town Board is due to the extensive training, knowledge, and responsibilities required; thus insuring the Town of Stanton has a qualified and trained person for the position.

A “YES” vote will authorize the Town Board to appoint the Town Clerk/Treasurer.

A “NO” vote will deny the Town Board the authority to appoint the Town Clerk/Treasurer. Thus the Town Clerk/Treasurer would continue to be an elected position.[1]
