Campaign themes

  • Education

Excerpt: "In order to attract, maintain and build quality jobs and a strong economy in Virginia, we need to have an educated workforce on par with or better than our global competitors. According to the Pew Charitable Trusts, pre-kindergarten education not only has been shown to improve student performance in the short term, but it has also been proven to be a high-yield economic investment in the long term, providing a strong foundation for a global, knowledge-based economy."

  • Jobs & Workers

Excerpt: "Stephanie hopes to go to Richmond to fight not just to protect the gains unions have brought us, but also to continue to put affordable health care, education, and jobs within reach of all Virginians."

  • Equality

Excerpt: "When I decided to enter this race, one of the motivators was the fact that LGBT individuals and families in the Commonwealth are treated as second class citizens. I’m proud not only to support but also be an active member of groups such as Arlington Gay & Lesbian Alliance, Human Rights Campaign, LGBT Democrats of Virginia and Virginia Partisans, and the Arlington Young Democrats LGBT Caucus."

  • Environment

Excerpt: "Outdoor recreation and conservation are ways of life in Virginia. Parents want to know that the air, water and food consumed by their families are safe and clean. As your representative, I will be committed to support efforts to protect our natural resources."

  • Transportation

Excerpt: "Land use and transportation planning are essential issues for the Commonwealth and especially for the 49th District with its plans for major economic development and its position along main commuter routes like Columbia Pike, Route 7, and Interstate 395."
