Dr. Steve E. Abrams is a Republican member of the Kansas State Senate, representing District 32 since 2009. He was previously a member of the Board of Education for the Unified School District 470 (1991-1995). Since 1995, he has been a member of the Kansas State Board of * Education, representing District 10. He has a Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine.

Abrams won re-election in the 2012 election for Kansas State Senate District 32. Abrams defeated Miranda Allen in the August 7 Republican primary and was unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[6][7][8]

2008

On November 4, 2008, Abrams was elected to the 32nd District Seat in the Kansas State Senate, defeating Greta Goodwin (D). [9] Abrams raised $42,191 for his campaign, while Goodwin raised $78,528. [10]

Education stance

Abrams is a strong supporter of changing the education paradigm in Kansas. During the 2010 legislative session, he introduced a bill that would enable students to focus on curricula that is relevant to a vocation they plan to pursue. He proposed setting aside money from a student's relatively low cost early education years, and putting it in a special account to pursue further education during or after high school. [12] He also stresses the importance of technical education as opposed to typical four year colleges. [13]
