Steve Cassano
Steve Cassano (Democratic Party) was a member of the Connecticut State Senate, representing District 4. He assumed office on January 5, 2011. He left office on January 4, 2023.
Cassano (Democratic Party, Working Families Party) ran for re-election to the Connecticut State Senate to represent District 4. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
At the Manchester Democratic Town Committee meeting on January 8, 2020, Cassano stated that he would seek re-election in 2020. The announcement came after Hearst Connecticut Media reported that he did not intend to run for re-election in 2020.[1]
He formerly served as deputy mayor of Manchester in 1977. Cassano was also the city's mayor from 1991 to 2005. Cassano served as State Senator for Connecticut State Senate District 4 from 2011-2023.
Biography
Cassano received a degree from Manchester Community College in 1968. He went on to receive his B.A. from Boston State in 1969. He then earned his M.A. in Urban Sociology from SUNY Albany in 1970. In 1975, he received an MSW from the University of Connecticut.
Cassano has worked as a sociology teacher for Manchester Community College. He has been the owner of The Childrens Place Inc. since 1984.

Elections for the Connecticut State Senate consisted of a primary election on August 12, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 10, 2014. Incumbent Steve Cassano was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Whit Osgood was unopposed in the Republican primary. Cassano defeated Osgood in the general election.[5][6]
