Marijuana possession
On March 14, 2013, Katz was charged with marijuana possession after being pulled over by a state trooper for speeding. A spokeswoman for the State Thruway Police said, Katz was alone in the car, driving 80 mph in a 65 mph zone. Katz was in possession of a small bag containing less that 25 grams of marijuana.[6]
Katz voted against Assembly Bill 7347 in June 2012. The bill would legalize medical marijuana in New York for certified patients with serious illnesses. AB 7347 passed the Assembly by a vote of 91-52, but did not come to a vote in the Senate.[6][7]
