Kilgore has worked for the last four years as an assistant district attorney for Neshoba, Leake, Newton, and Scott counties. He worked previously in private practice in Philadelphia, MS.
Kilgore earned a BA in finance from the University of Mississippi, and a JD from the University of Mississippi Law School.[1]

Kilgore was defeated in the 2011 election for Mississippi Senate District 18. He ran unopposed in the primary on August 2, 2011. Incumbent Giles Ward ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Ward defeated Kilgore in the general election on November 8, 2011. [2]

According to his website, Kilgore has made education his top priority. His other priorities include:
