Steven P. Lustgarten was a 2012 Democratic candidate seeking election to the U.S. Senate from Nebraska. He was defeated by Bob Kerrey in the May 15, 2012 primary. [1]

Biography

Lustgarten was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin and moved to Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 3. Upon graduation from Burke High School in 1969, he attended Wayne State College for one year. In 1973, he suspended his educational pursuits and became a reporter for the Alliance Times Herald. Later, he embarked to Oregon to attend Portland State University, where he focused on communications studies. With the aid of a 1983 Academy Award, Lustgarten started his film career in Los Angeles. In 1991, he established his own film and video distribution company, LEO films. He worked on then candidate Barack Obama's 2008 election campaign in Nebraska, where he has since started another video production company. [2]

Lustgarten ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. Senate, representing Nebraska. He was seeking the nomination on the Democratic ticket, but he was defeated by Bob Kerrey in the May 15, 2012 primary. [3]
