Hanson ran in the 2012 election for New Mexico House of Representatives District 63. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 5, 2012. Incumbent George Dodge Jr. (D) defeated Jose A. Griego in the Democratic primary. Hanson was defeated by George Dodge Jr. in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
