2014
In March 2013, Sodders set up a committee to explore a potential bid for Iowa's 1st district seat in the U.S. House in the 2014 elections. District 1 Democratic incumbent Bruce Braley will vacate the seat in 2014 in order to run for retiring Sen. Tom Harkin's imminently open seat in the U.S. Senate.[1]
The general election will be held November 4, 2014.

Sodders ran for re-election to the Iowa State Senate in 2012. Due to redistricting, he ran in district 36. Sodders ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 5, 2012 and defeated Jane A. Jech (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
