Tahoe Truckee Unified School District Measure L appeared on the June 3, 2008 ballot in Placer County and Nevada County. It authorizes $93,530,000 of new indebtedness for the school district.

Measure L was defeated with 50.9% of the vote. (In order to pass, a supermajority vote of at least 55% was required.)

After the defeat of Measure L in June 2008, the Tahoe Truckee school board voted to put essentially the same request on the November 4, 2008 ballot with the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District Measure U, 2008. Measure U was also defeated.

Ballot language

The language on the ballot said, "To improve energy efficiency, replace portable classrooms, upgrade computer and instructional technology, expand career and vocational classrooms, meet seismic safety and snow load requirements, shall Facilities Improvement District No.1 of the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District issue $93,530,000 of bonds at legal rates to renovate, acquire, construct, repair and equip Truckee area schools, sites and facilities, with required independent public financial audits, citizens’ oversight, no money for administrators’ salaries?"
