Ybarra is a dentist, and has had her own private practice since 1997. She previously worked as a Dental Consultant at the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, United States Department of Homeland Security.
Ybarra is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, Child Advocacy Center, and Family Crisis Center Against Domestic Violence Board.[1]

In the 2010 primary, held on March 2, Rios Ybarra was defeated by J.M. Lozano.[2].
Issue positions

2008
On November 4, 2008, Ybarra won election to the Texas House of Representatives from Texas's 43rd District, defeating Richard Shuey (L). Ybarra received 25,771 votes in the election while Shuey received 3,782 votes.[5] Ybarra raised $522,496 for her campaign.[6]
