Kim Buckley, Madison County's election administrator, said residents who lose their homes in foreclosure in Tennessee do not have to worry about a new address preventing them from casting their vote. She said she had not heard any concerns about foreclosures and residency requirements.[1]

If a resident in foreclosure moves to another county, he or she can register there until Oct. 6, Buckley said. If such residents don't register elsewhere, they can still cast a ballot in Madison County, she said. "There is usually a way around preventing somebody to vote," Buckley said. Foreclosures have spiked in Madison County in recent years as the country has slid into the current financial crisis, said Linda Waldon, the county's register of deeds. Waldon said her office processed 500 foreclosures last year and 370 this year. Before 2006, the office processed about one-fourth of those totals on average, she said.[1]
