Tennessee Senate votes to place hunting rights amendment on ballot

NASHVILLE, Tennessee: A proposed Tennessee Hunting Rights Amendment for the November 2, 2010 statewide ballot has passed its first hurdle - the Senate. On Thursday the Tennessee State Senate voted 31-0 in favor of placing the measure on the ballot. The proposed measure calls for the personal right to hunt and fish within state laws and existing property rights. Additionally, the amendment allows for hunting and fishing of non-threatened species.[1] According to Senator Doug Jackson he has been trying to place the measure on the ballot since the 1990s. However, before the ballot can be placed on the ballot, the House must first approve the proposed amendment.[2]
