Proud and incumbent Vic Williams defeated Wade McLean in the August 24 primary. They then defeated incumbent Democrat Nancy Young Wright in the November 2 general election.[1][2]

Her largest contributor was the Saddlebrooke Republican Club 2010, which donated $1,660 to her campaign.
Issues
Policy positions
Redistricting
Proud has been an open critic of the 2011 redistricting process, in particular of the partisan nature of the independent redistricting commission. She proposed the idea that a ballot question be held to eliminate the commission and return the map-drawing process to lawmakers.[4] Proud also said the independent chair of the commission, Colleen Mathis, did not disclose that her husband worked for the unsuccessful re-election bid of a Democratic legislator. Proud also indicated she has not seen enough interest on the commission’s part to gather public input before creating draft maps.[5]
State senator Ron Gould (R) suggested removing Mathis from the commission entirely. In order to do that, Governor Jan Brewer (R) would need to sign a petition and then the Senate would need to approve that petition with 2/3 vote.[6]
In response to the criticism, advocates of the commission have criticized the move as a way to re-institute political gerrymandering of the districts or to intimidate the commissioners.[7] [8] Still others pointed out that the petition circulated by Proud contained factual errors -- including the year that the ballot initiative was approved.[9] While Republicans have expressed concern that their voice will be "silenced" by the process, the commissioners themselves have maintained that they will be responsible for drawing the districts.[10]

Goldwater Institute
The Goldwater Institute releases its "Legislative Report Card" annually for all Arizona legislators. This report card tracks how legislators voted on key votes and assigns them a letter grade based on how closely their votes agree with the Institute's positions. The primary values emphasized in the ratings are whether votes expand or restrict liberty.[11]
2012
Proud received a score of 63 out of 100 in the 2012 report card for a grade of B according to the Goldwater Institute’s grading scale. This score was 7 lower than her score on the 2011 report card. Proud’s 63 in 2012 was tied for the 23rd highest grade among all 60 Arizona State Representatives.[11]
