Thayer Verschoor (b. May 16, 1961) has been a Republican member of the Arizona Senate since 2003. He was elected in 2003 and subsequently re-elected in 2005, 2007, and 2009. He represents the 22nd district and is currently serving as the senate's President Pro Tempore.[1]
Education
Verschoor attended Mesa Community College from 1987 to 1989. He later earned his BS in political science from Arizona State University in 1993.
Professional experience
Verschoor has worked for Yuma News Incorporated as well as Wellton Mohawk Irrigation District. He was later employed as a Nuclear Biological and Chemical Specialist by the United States Army from the years of 1983 to 1986. From 1986-1992 Verschoor was an Assistant Nuclear Biological and Chemical Noncommissioned Officer for the U.S. Army Reserves. After earning his degree, he became manager/owner of Valley Metro.
Political experience
Verschoor was elected to the Arizona State Senate in 2003. He served as the Majority Leader from 2006 to 2008 and currently serves as President Pro Tempore for the Arizona State Senate.
