Therese Goldsmith is the Maryland Commissioner of Insurance. She has served in this position since June 13, 2011. Her term expires May 31, 2015.[1]


A lawyer by trade, Goldsmith was an associate at the law firm of Venable, Baetjer and Howard, LLP. In 2001, she became a partner at the firm of Hogan & Hartson LLP, working on white collar litigation. She has also worked as a certified speech-language pathologist, including serving as the Director of Speech-Language Pathology at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, D.C.. Prior to her appointment as Maryland Commissioner of Insurance in 2011, Goldsmith was serving on the Maryland Public Service Commission.[2]
