The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 28, 2014. Incumbent David Lewis, Sr. was unopposed in the Republican primary, while Susan Byerly defeated Thomas Ellis in the Democratic primary. Byerly and Lewis will face off in the general election.[2][3]
