Born November 8, 1946 in North Platte, Nebraska, Sen. Hansen is a cattleman from Lincoln County, Nebraska. Prior to his election, Sen. Hansen was a member of the Lincoln County Cattlemen, and former president of the Nebraska Cattleman's Association.[1] Senator Hansen has a degree in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His grandfather was also a member of the Nebraska State Legislature.[2]
Hansen earned his Bachelors degree in animal science from the University of Nebraska in 1970.
Hansen worked as as secretary and treasurer for Hansen 77 Ranch Limited Liability Company and previously worked as a rancher.
Hansen was a member of the Lincoln County Republicans and joined the Nebraska State Legislature as a senator in 2007.
Hansen is currently involved with numerous organizations, including the Lincoln County Cattlemen, Lincoln County Feeders and Ranchers, Messiah Lutheran Church, Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, Mid-Plains Community Foundation, Nebraska Brand Committee, Nebraska Cattlemen Association, Nebraska Cattlemen Research and Education Foundation, Nebraska Land Days, Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation, and the North Platte Noon Rotary Club.
Hansen currently serves on the Twin Platte Natural Resource District Board.
