Saviello is a Manager for International Paper. He previously worked as a forester and an associate professor, later becoming the manager of Northern Forest Research Center. In 1991, he became the Manager of Environment at the paper mill in Jay, Maine. He remains in this position, and serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Maine at Farmington. He is also a volunteer with Hospice and a member of the Wilton Lions.
Tom came to Maine in 1972 to pursue his Master's degree in Agronomy at the University of Maine. He remained in Orono to complete his PhD in Forest Resources in 1978.
