Three vacant seats filled in Tuesday's special elections

Three states-- South Carolina, Connecticut, and Minnesota -- held special elections on April 12, 2011 to fill three state legislative vacancies. Two of these vacant seats were previously held by Republicans, and one by Democrats. Each party retained control of its seats on Tuesday. So far, 41 of the nation's 53 state legislative special elections have been decided.
