Contents |
Golden was Director, Manager and Treasurer for Hatcher for Re-Election in 1988. He also worked as Director of the Valdosta Office for former Congressman Hatcher from 1981 to 1989. He then served in the Georgia State House of Representatives from 1990 to 1998. In 1998 he was elected to the Georgia State Senate, and has served in that position since.
Golden is a past Staff Aide for Former United States Senator Sam Nunn. In 1981 he was Staff Aide for former United States Congressman Charles Hatcher. He then worked as owner/founder of Golden Printing of Valdosta in 1999. He is currently a Mortgage Broker/co-owner of Beacon Hill Financial.
Golden earned his BS in American History/Political Science from Valdosta State University in 1977.
Party switch
Golden served as a Democrat until switching parties following his re-election in the 2010 general election. He stated, “I am changing my party affiliation in order to better represent the views of the majority of my constituents and my own conservative, pro-business philosophy."[1]

Golden was re-elected as a Democrat, but following the election he switched to the Republican Party.
2008
On November 4, 2008, Golden won re-election to the Georgia Senate from Georgia's 8th Senate district. Golden ran unopposed in the general election, and he received 49,509 votes.[6] Golden raised $82,000 for his campaign.[7]
