Pickett attended Pennsylvania State University, Keystone College, and the Culinary Institute of America.
Pickett was owner of Pickett's Dairy from 1964 to 1968. She then worked as owner of The Fireplace Restaurant from 1968 to 1985. She has owned The Williamston Inn since 1977.
Pickett served as Bradford County Commissioner from 1996 to 2000. She then joined the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2001. She has served in that position since, representing the 110th District.
