Elections for the office of South Dakota State Senate will consist of a primary election on June 3, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 25, 2014. Tom Cool is unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent David Omdahl is unopposed in the Republican primary.[1]

Cool ran in the 2012 election for South Dakota State Senate District 11. Cool ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 5 and was defeated by David Omdahl (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]

Cool was a Democratic candidate for District 11 in the South Dakota State Senate in the November 2, 2010, state legislative elections. He did not have any opposition in the June 8 primary. He was defeated by Todd Schlekeway (R) in the November 2 general election.
