Dickson served as School Superintendent of Whitfield County Schools from 1998-2003, and as School System Administrator from 1976-1998.
He is a member of the Dalton Rotary Club, Georgia Federal Credit Union Board of Directors, Georgia Project Board of Directors, Georgia School Superintendent's Association, Northwest Georgia United Way Board of Directors, and the Whitfield County Board of Health.[1]
