Tom Holland (b. July 23, 1961) is a Democratic member of the Kansas State Senate, representing District 3 since 2009. He was a member of the Kansas House of Representatives from 2003-2008. Currently, he is the Minority Caucus Chair. On February 17, 2010, Holland announced that he would be running for governor of Kansas.[1] He was defeated by Sam Brownback in the general election.
Holland has been the owner and president of Holland Technologies, Incorporated since 1994. He founded the company in 1992. Holland Technologies, Inc. is an an Information Technology consulting and professional services firm providing IT project management, software development and network engineering services for its customers.
Holland graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1982. He went on to the University of Minnesota and earned a Masters of Business Administration in August, 1987.

Holland won re-election in the 2012 election for Kansas State Senate District 3. Holland ran unopposed in the August 7 Democratic primary and defeated Anthony Brown (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[4][5][6]

Oct. 7, 2010 debate
In the gubernatorial debate on October 7, 2010 on KWCH all four candidates for Kansas governor said they’re against the statewide smoking ban and the hypocrisy of exempting the state-owned casinos from the ban.
Holland said:
- In the legislature, I voted against the statewide smoking ban. I believe these issues are best left to local control, local units of government.[7]
2008
On November 4, 2008, Holland was elected to the 3rd District Seat in the Kansas State Senate, defeating Roger C. Pine (R) and Patrick Wilbur (L).[8] Holland raised $190,461 for his campaign, while Pine raised $100,094 and Wilbur raised $5,085.[9]

The Kansas Economic Freedom Index is a project of Bob Weeks, creator of the blog Voice For Liberty in Wichita.
