Tom Jensen (b. December 29, 1948) is a circuit court judge for the 27th Judicial Circuit, which presides over Knox and Laurel counties of Kentucky.[1] He was elected to the court on November 6, 2012, and was re-elected without opposition in 2014.[2][3] Jensen's current eight-year term expires on January 1, 2023.[4]

Jensen is also a former Republican member of the Kentucky State Senate, representing District 21 from 2005 to 2013. Jensen is a former delegate at the Republican National Convention. He was Chairman of the Laurel County Republican Party from 1982 to 1984. He served in the Kentucky State House from 1988 to 1996. From 1992 to 1994 he was House Minority Floor Leader. In 1996 he was Chair of the Kentucky Republican Party.

Jensen is former Legal Counsel for the Republican Caucus of the Kentucky House of Representatives. He has also been an attorney since 1978.


Jensen received his undergraduate degree in secondary education from Cumberland College and his J.D. from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University in 1978.[5]


Before his election to the court, Jensen served as a state senator on the Kentucky State Senate from 2005 to 2012. He has also previously served as a state representative on the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1988 to 1996 and has practiced law since 1978.[6]

Jensen ran unopposed for a seat on the Kentucky Circuit Court 27.[7] He won with 100% of the votes.[2] He also ran for re-election in the 2012 election for Kentucky State Senate District 21. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on May 22, 2012, but withdrew before the general election on November 6, 2012.[8][9]
