Tomblin sworn in as new Governor of West Virginia

CHARLESTON, West Virginia: Earl Ray Tomblin was sworn in as the acting Governor of West Virginia on November 16, 2010. Tomblin's swearing in happened a day after outgoing Governor Joe Manchin was given the oath of office as the new U.S. Senator from the Mountaineer State[1].
In a ceremony held at the State Capitol, Tomblin was sworn in by Chief Justice Robin Davis of the West Virginia Supreme Court surrounded by family, lobbyists, citizens, media, and dignitaries[1].
During his inauguration address, Tomblin stressed for a "West Virginia First" agenda as Acting Governor. The Acting Governor said: "if we work together, we can achieve things previously thought to be impossible...The road to a more prosperous West Virginia begins with the knowledge that we must, we must, work together." Also, Tomblin stressed that legislators need to pursue fiscally-sound policies to keep the state financially stable[1].
Tomblin will serve as acting Governor until 2012. A general and special election would be held in the same year to determine a successor to Joe Manchin[1].
