Thomas Benton is a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing the 31st District since 2005.

Benton is a clerk at McDonald Ace Hardware, a position he has held since 1974. He has also worked as a teacher in Georgia History/Government American History with the Jackson County Board of * Education Committee, and a Clerk/Assistant Manager with the W. T. Grant Company.

Benton is a member of the Jackson County Historical Society, Sons of the American Revolution, Gainesville Chapter, Sons of Confederate Veterans, National Rifle Association, First Methodist Church in Commerce, Jackson County Retired Teachers Association, and the Military Order of the Stars and Bars.[1]
