Tony Stamas has been a Republican member of the Michigan Senate since 2002. Stamas was re-elected in November of 2006 with his term expiring in 2010. Stamas is term-limited in 2010. Before becoming a Senator, Stamas was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002 and was a Midland County Commissioner from 1991 to 1998. Stamas started his political career as a District Director for former State Senator Bill Schuette from 1995 to 1998.

Stamas graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Michigan State in 1988.
