Tucson City Charter Amendments, 4 (November 2010)

Four Tucson City Charter Amendment measures were on the November 2, 2010 ballot in the city of Tucson which is in Pima County.

These were defeated

  • YES 55,144 (43.92%)
  • NO 70,406 (56.08%)Defeatedd[1]

There were four proposed charter amendment to be decided on by voters. Proposed changes included eliminating civil service protection for department heads and deputies, increase the salaries of the mayor and council members, give the mayor more power in the city council and make all council members elected during the same years as opposed to the staggered elections now.[2]

The salaries of the council members would have gone from the current rate of $24,000 to $61,280 and the Mayor's salary would go from $42,000 to $76,600.[3]
