BOISE, Idaho: 2011 ballot measure elections have come and gone. With 2012 on the horizon, here's a peek at two initiatives that have been proposed for the November 2012 ballot. Both measures are sure to come with lively debates from both supporters and opponents:

  • Idaho Felony Animal Cruelty Initiative (2012) - The measure would make certain cases of animal cruelty a felony in the state. The initiative effort is being headed by an umbrella group of multiple organizations called Idaho 1 of 3, the name most likely meaning that the state is one of three states that does not consider animal cruelty a felony. The group Stop Torturing Our Pets, which was founded by Virginia Hemingway, is also part of that group.
